The 2nd Chance Saves Lives organization introduces their upcoming TV show spin-off called, 2nd Chance Saves: FORGOTTEN PRISONERS. A made for TV docu-series hosted by former Special Agent, John Fitzgerald of the Department of Justice.
We are excited to highlight cases wherein significant issues of due process errors may exist. Due Process, as guaranteed under the 5th and 14th Amendments, means that the prosecution of a Defendant MUST be free of police errors, prosecutorial misconduct, incompetent legal representation, and judicial corruption. Every time that a case is โreversedโ, that means that some degree of due process was violated. While the American judicial process is the most sophisticated in the world in terms of respect for the โrule of law,โ the fact remains that our system of โchecks and balancesโ breaks down when we rely on the human element. Whether born of incompetence, indifference, or blatant dishonestyโฆlives are forever changed when the those within the criminal justice system fail to honor their oath to support the Constitution. And by extensionโฆ.supporting the Constitution means respecting the constitutional rights of everyone. All criminal defendants must be subjected to a court system that facilitates the honest and fair dispensation of justice. Unfortunately, there have been decisions made by criminal justice professionals (law enforcement, defense attorneys, prosecutors, judges) which has irreparably damaged the lives of defendants (who were subsequently exonerated). From questionable evidence obtained by law enforcement, and public defenders / counsel advocating acceptance of plea offers rather than going to trialโฆ.to prosecutors withholding exonerating evidence and improper court administration by judgesโฆthese issues of Due Process will be examined by our show. Ultimatelyโฆwe are not mounting a defense for any of the cases highlighted. We are simply raising important questions for the audience to consider, while doing our best to educate the public about how to secure oneโs constitutional rights. And if we can play a small part in helping to highlight information that may exonerate those we present on our showโฆ.then that means that our justice system does work.
Stay tuned, 1st season is Coming soon.
